You made this happen…

On this International Day of the Girl, we want to share Sylvia’s inspiring story.

October 2023.

A year ago Sylvia was finishing her sophomore year at KGSA. She’d always been one of KGSA’s top soccer players and students excelling in science, technology, engineering, and math aka the STEM subjects. She dreamed of being a computer coder, but it was unheard of for a girl from the Kibera slums.

Disheartening, right?

Thankfully, because of your continuous generosity this past year, KGSA is helping Sylvia shatter glass ceilings to achieve her goal.

In the last year, here’s how you’ve helped us invest in STEM to benefit girls like Sylvia:
⭐ Launched a new Engineering Club where girls have experimented with bridges, water filtration, and clocks.
⭐ Provided field trips to explore STEM subjects.
⭐ Participated in STEM competitions at the regional and national level.
⭐ Built beautiful new classrooms complete with a modern computer and science lab.

You’ve helped us create a learning environment where girls can soar!

Sylvia has been selected as one of the best robotics students to represent Kenya in an international competition in December accompanied by Director Claris.

Check out our new video featuring Sylvia’s story along with shots of the new classrooms.

Thank you for being a part of this special school in Kenya. Being in our corner, paying attention, and standing behind what we do makes you a key player in our success here at the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy.

As we gear up for another giving season, I look forward to together educating, inspiring, and empowering more girls like Sylvia.

Thank you for believing in us and the work we do.
