How did you learn about KGSA?
I first learned about KGSA through Pacific Ridge School. When I began my job as the Director of Service Learning, I learned about KGSA which is our oldest global partner. We have worked with their journalism students for over ten years. Our students collaborate with KGSA journalism to create an annual magazine that shares perspectives from students around the world.
Who is your role model?
My mother is my role model. She moved to California on her own in her early twenties knowing no one. She had little formal education besides trade school. Despite many challenges, she worked hard, supported my brother and me as a single parent, volunteered in her community, and made friends who became our family. I learned the value of meaningful friendships and work ethic from my mother. She taught me to trust my instincts, work hard for what you want and build community through intentional time spent with like-minded people. I attribute my heart, value for community, and strong work ethic to my mother.
