The Class of 2023 Graduates

Good morning from beautiful Kenya,

I’m so thankful I was here to participate in the KGSA Class of 2023 graduation ceremony. The 35 graduates, teachers, and honored guests gathered on the dormitory rooftop to celebrate their accomplishments. It was a sunny but windy day and a few diplomas flew away.

Members of the Rotary Club of Upperhill Nairobi and Global Gives Back Circle encouraged the graduates to discover their passions and follow their unique journey. Irene from the Class of 2021 gave a touching speech about her experiences. Though she didn’t get the grade she wanted on her national exams, she kept working hard and is now studying to be an EMT. She proudly showed off her certification from the American Heart Association – she can save lives!

It was an honor to present scholarships to four graduates to pursue diploma (associate) degrees thanks to your giving the last few weeks. We are hoping that between the KGSA Foundation and local partners, all 35 graduates from the Class of 2023 will have the opportunity to pursue higher education. For example, several graduates are applying to Strathmore University’s vocational training in solar panel installation that guarantees employment upon completion of the program.

On behalf of everyone at the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy, thanks for your commitment to educate, inspire, and empower girls in Kibera. To date, you have helped 412 girls graduate from this small but impactful school across the world. Without your support, these girls would not have had the opportunity to attend high school.

Enjoy the photos from the celebration!
