| When I was in Kenya, several of the girls came back to school just so I could congratulate them in person. I was so touched. We hugged. We laughed. I told them how proud I am of the women they have become. I also told them something important: this is just the beginning. I’ve known these girls since 9th grade. I’ve watched them grow from quiet teenagers into confident young women. I’ve watched them find their voice. I’ve watched them refuse to give up. Because of you, they didn’t drop out after 8th grade. They stayed. They graduated. They’re heading to college. That’s what happens when you believe in girls.
