Stacy’s Story: From Loss to Leadership at KGSA

A Childhood Marked by Loss

Stacy’s story begins with heartbreak. She lost both of her parents at a young age and moved to Kibera to live with her aunt, who welcomed her despite already supporting several children.

But high school fees were out of reach. Stacy believed her education would end before it truly began.

A School That Opened the Door

Everything changed when she heard about the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy — a free high school for girls just a short walk from her aunt’s house. For Stacy, KGSA wasn’t just a school.

It was a lifeline.

Her aunt wanted the best for her but couldn’t provide the stability or resources she needed. KGSA stepped in at exactly the right moment.

Finding Stability, Strength, and Hope

Living in the KGSA dorm her junior and senior year gave Stacy what she’d been missing:

  • Consistent meals
  • A quiet place to study
  • Her own bed

With these basics in place, Stacy began to flourish.

Today, she’s one of our strongest students. She loves math and physics, participates in school clubs, and even plays rugby. She now dreams of attending university and working with organizations that support vulnerable communities — a vision shaped by her own journey.
