Did you know that Africa has the youngest, fastest growing population on earth? By 2050, one in four people on the planet will be African. Half of them will be girls. And unless things change, many of those girls won’t have access to a high school education.
Shocking right?
But here’s the good news. KGSA is already helping to tackle this problem. Since Abdul Kassim opened the first free high school for girls in Kenya back in 2006, more than 400 girls have graduated from the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy.
And we’re not done.
KGSA just welcomed another 9th grade class. Thirty-eight girls who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend high school. The fact that you have opened this email and read this far tells me you care about educating girls in Kibera. I am honored and forever grateful for your commitment.
Here are 3 quick things you can do today in support of the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy, without spending a dime:
- Tell a friend about us: The more people who know about KGSA, the more people who can get involved.
- Give us a tag on social: We love a good follow, but for more eyes to actually see us, please comment and tag us.
- Learn more: Read this NYT special edition on Africa.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all that you do for the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy in Kenya.
