For the First Time EVER

KGSA kicked off the 2025 academic year and we have BIG news.

For the first time ever, thanks to your generous support, KGSA is a 100% boarding school.

And for the first time ever, KGSA did not have an incoming 9th grade class. Say what? That’s right. When KGSA welcomed its students back to school this week, there were only 10th, 11th and 12th graders walking through its doors.

Recently, the Ministry of Education changed Kenya’s academic system. Grades 7th, 8th and 9th are now junior high, and 10th grade is the first year of high school. KGSA rolled with the government’s decision and will continue its crucial mission to educate, inspire, and empower girls in Kibera.

This year, KGSA will educate AND board 120 girls. Each girl will have access to the new school nurse, study in the new beautiful classrooms, receive three meals a day, and sleep in a safe place. Without our supporters, we couldn’t have reached this milestone of becoming a 100% boarding school.

Over the next few years, KGSA will build its student population back up to 150 (max capacity) with fifty girls in each of the three high school grades. All while being the only 100% free boarding school for girls in Kibera.
