In celebration of one of the most inspirational leaders of the last century, Martin Luther King Jr., we thought we would share where some members of the KGSA community get their inspiration from.
MEET RACHAEL, KGSA Class of 2018 and senior at Strathmore University
“Every time I look at my gratitude board, it’s like a burst of inspiration. It takes me back to being a village girl passing through the Kibera slums to attend high school at KGSA to where I am now – a communications specialist awaiting graduation. It hits me that someone’s been looking out for me. This realization fuels my desire to give back to my community and to the world at large. To create social change using the effective communication skills I’ve picked up on my journey at Strathmore University.”
MEET LILIAN, KGSA English teacher
“To be kind is more important than to be right. What people need many times is not a brilliant mind that speaks but a special heart that listens.”
MEET MELDRINE, KGSA senior
“My favorite inspirational quote is the harder the battle, the sweeter the victory. I want to study hard and achieve my dream to bring change in my family and society. I want to change the mentality of my people in which they believe that nothing good can come from a girl. I want to be the girl that people will admire and encourage everyone to educate a girl child.”
