You won’t forget this story

You won’t forget this story—and we hope you never will. We recently came across a devastating article from Kenya that we want to share with you. It’s difficult to read, but it speaks to the urgency of our work and the importance of your ongoing support:

👉LSK demands action after killing of teen who refused forced marriage

A 17-year-old Kenyan girl was murdered in Wajir County (300 miles outside of Nairobi) after she said no to a forced marriage. Her death has sparked outrage, and rightfully so. But the truth is, this is not an isolated case. We lost KGSA senior Cynthia in 2021 to gender-based violence when she was traveling up country during a school break. This new death is a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers so many girls across Kenya still face, simply for trying to choose their own path.

At KGSA, we often say that school is more than a classroom—it’s a form of protection. When a girl walks through our gates, she’s not just getting an education. She’s being seen, supported, respected, and given choices.
You make that possible. When you give to KGSA, you’re not just investing in books or meals. You’re helping build a future where girls who want to live, learn, and lead are safe enough to do so.

Let this be a call to all of us. To keep showing up. To keep building safe spaces. To keep saying that girls matter. Because they do.
