KGSA and the surrounding neighborhood of Makina are on high ground and not impacted by the current floods in Kenya. The students’ return to school for Term 2 has been delayed until next week to allow for girls traveling from up country to remain safe as they make their way back to Kibera. Be safe everyone!

Form 3 students (juniors) visited an inland logistics depot in Nairobi. Like the bank field trip we shared earlier this week, this is another amazing learning opportunity for the girls!

KGSA Junior Achievement (JA) students attended a job shadow day at Credit Bank - Ngong Road Branch. Thanks to KGSA and JA, these girls are being exposed to learning opportunities that aren’t available to all in Kibera.

NEWS ALERT:
Low areas in Kibera are flooding. Grateful to community partners like CFK Africa who are prepared to respond to emergencies in the slums. Thankfully, KGSA is on higher ground in Makina and not impacted. We are in close contact with school staff to monitor the situation.

Many of the boarded girls celebrate birthdays away from their families. The school surprised a Form 4 (Senior) with a cake for her 18th birthday to enjoy after she and her classmates broke fast for Ramadan a few weeks ago. It’s the little touches that make KGSA a home for these girls 🎂
